Today, 4th Sunday of Advent, we remember all the victims and survivors of Supertyphoon Odette.

Supertyphoon Odette left a wide swathe of destruction across the country. This included hundreds of churches, chapels, and schools whose roofs were blown off, or whose wooden walls crushed under the weight of fallen trees.

Tanging Yaman Foundation provided funds for the rehabilitation of 14 schools in Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Occidental, and the rehab of 24 day care centers and an Early Childhood Care and Development Center in Siargao.

It also supported the rehab of 40 parish churches, chapels, convents, retreat center, and seminary in Bohol, Cebu, Dinagat, Southern Leyte, Negros Occidental and Oriental, Palawan, and Siargao.

Farmers, fishers, and even urban poor communities were likewise dislocated. TYF provided funds for seaweed farming in coastal communities in Palawan, piglets and fertilizer for farmers in Bohol and Negros Oriental, e-bikes in a Cebu dumpsite, and a total of 179 boats in Bohol, Dinagat, Negros Oriental, Siargao, and Surigao del Norte.

In addition to shelter materials distributed in Bohol and Negros Oriental, TYF also funded the construction of 78 new houses in Bohol and Cebu.

Thanks to all our ST Odette Relief and Rehab donors and mission partners. May we all have a meaningful Christmas and grace-filled New Year. AM+DG
