When Typhoon Odette damaged local chapels, the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay Social Action Center (SAC) was determined to build back better, and identified ways to mitigate the people’s vulnerability to disasters.

Near the old San Isidro Labrador Chapel in Port Barton, San Vicente, they are constructing a new chapel that will also serve as a multi-purpose hall and evacuation center for the fishing community.

After SAC Director Fr. Eduardo E. Parińo facilitated an inception meeting to discuss disaster risk reduction concepts and plans for the 3-in-1 structure, some residents helped clear the foundation for the building.

Tanging Yaman Foundation has committed P1.967-M for the 3-in-1 chapel in Port Barton, and possibly two other similar structures in the vicariate.
