24 Fishing Boats Worth P1,200,000.00 Distributed in the Diocese of Surigao

Last year, the Diocese of Surigao Social Action Center (DSAC) - Justice and Peace requested TYF to sponsor the construction of new fishing boats for families who had lost their means of livelihood.

The DSAC targeted three fishing boats for each of the 13 chapels in Surigao City.

7.7 Tons of Kalabasa from Pangasinan Distributed in Metro Manila

As we celebrate our 27th anniversary, Tanging Yaman Foundation, Inc., stays committed to its advocacy of supporting Filipino farmers by purchasing their produce and distributing them to indigent families in Metro Manila.

On July 07 & 12, we distributed 7.7+ Tons of kalabasa from San Gabriel, Pangasinan. Parishes, feeding centers, prison ministry, and Christian communities in Metro Manila excitedly picked up the Kalabasa in Ateneo. Since May 2023, we have rescued 85.6 Tons of Kalabasa from various farming communities in Luzon.

One Social Services & Development Minister in one of the parishes that received kalabasa weeks ago shared this moving story. A neighbor knocked at the door of one of the recipients, asking to borrow P200.00 to buy food for her family. Instead of lending the money, she gave her neighbor the kalabasa with some rice. "Sa tulong niyo po, naituwid ang pamilya nila sa gutom."

May we all be bridges of hope and love to countless Filipinos. AM+DG

Pope Francis writes, "God looks with joy upon all those who serve the needy. This is how goodness grows: in the simplicity of hands and hearts stretched out to others and in the courage of the small steps that approach those who are most vulnerable in the name of Jesus."

350 Kids Received Bears of Joy From SM City San Lazaro

for_website_SM_Bears_of_Joy.png

Maraming salamat to SM City San Lazaro and the generous shoppers who donated 350 teddy bears to the Tanging Yaman Foundation. This is the second time we are recipients of their Bears of Joy project.

We immediately distributed the teddy bears to a range of children. These include the Kuya Center which houses former streetchildren in Cubao, Caritas Kalookan’s Mga Anak Sila ng Diyos Program which feeds streetchildren every Saturday, children at a daycare center in Pansol, Quezon City managed by the Ancilla Cordis Iesu Sisters, families assisted by the Santo Cristo Parish in Las Pińas City, farmers' children in Nueva Ecija, children attending catechism classes of religious sisters, and children in Payatas who lost a family member to extra-judicial killings.

Some of the children look a bit somber, as if they could barely believe their fortune, before breaking out in wide smiles. These teddy bears promise immeasurable joy and hours of play.
