Immaculate Conception Parish Rehabilitation Project

The Immaculate Conception Parish in Poblacion, Dinagat serves two municipalities: Dinagat and San Jose. When Typhoon Odette made landfall in Dinagat, the parish church’s roof, ceiling, window grills, and doors were severely damaged.

Tanging Yaman Foundation contributed P500,000 for rehabilitation, which is expected to cost a total of P7-M.

Because all houses and buildings in Dinagat sustained damage, there is a high demand for construction materials and skilled labor, which has been a challenge to the project. Work started in May with the erection of scaffolding so that they can slowly dismantle the remaining pieces of the roof and clear the debris. Later, they will align the trusses and c purlins. In the photo, Parish priest Fr Joseph Cantilado, DCS personally inspects the scaffolding.

If the parish can get more funds, they hope to complete the roofing, ceiling, and electrical work by December 8, the parish feast day.
